Witcher: Old World - Gaunther O'Dimm

Gaunther had a bit of a delay as I missed the hair during the first round of painting.  It wasn't until I was about to take photos that I noticed that the reference photo depicts hair.  Since no hair at all was sculpted on the mini, I just overlooked what appears to be a buzz cut.  I went back and added some hair as well as gave the skull pile another highlight since I was there and now calling him done.

The Witcher: Old World - Unseen Elder

The Unseen Elder was fun to paint.  I was initially thinking of painting the wings mostly black, but decided to try a brownish approach.  There was a bit of shine to the wings which made them stand out too much, but adding the anti-shine spray toned them down a bit.

Witcher: Old World - Nightwraith

 

The OSL on the Nightwraith turned out fairly well in my opinion.  Thanks a lot to James Wappel for his many tutorials and strategies on OSL and color theory.  While this is certainly not a perfectly executed example of lighting, I feel it is a lot better than it would have been without learning from James.

The Bhaghest was pretty simple to paint and the Pthalo Green plus Indian Yellow gave a pretty nice glowing effect.  James Wappel uses this color combination in a few of his videos which gave me the idea.

Neat miniature and fun to paint.  I could have gone more extreme with the OSL, but keeping it more subtle looked decently enough.

Well, this one didn't come out as I'd envisioned.  I was sort of shooting for a purple-undertone fleshlike color for the tentacles, but the Egyptian Violet pre-glaze fought me and I let it win.

I eventually went back and tried to fix her left eye.  It isn't fully cured here so looks a little too bright now, but better than it was.

This model has a lot going on - straps over straps over layers over layers with trim and stripes.  I could have spent more time cleaning up the lines and giving better definition to each strap, but my patience sort of petered out.
