The Frightener is an odd-looking creature and apparently has had some reduction in scale compared to the reference game art. A praying mantis landed on my window which inspired me to paint this one up later that day. The head of this beast in the game reference looks a lot more undead than the insect-like look of the model which is what I find most odd. Generally, the models have held pretty closely to the game art. In any case, the model reminds me a lot of a praying mantis (not counting the two arm appendages ending in hand-like structures) so I painted it up like one.
