Zombicide Invader - Sister Eva Dean

Well, this character was not easy to come by.  I didn't know it existed until by accident I happened to see mention of it on boardgamegeek.com.  Apparently, this model was part of a promo reward for a Kickstarter for the Dice Tower.  Giving away exclusive promos of 'official' Invader characters through other Kickstarters unrelated to Invader - or even any other CMON product seems pretty crappy.  It is especially crappy when it isn't a Kickstarter I ever saw any mention of until literally years after it ended.  It is one thing to have crossover packs for what I consider non-official characters, but Eva was specifically made for Invader and should be more readily available - or at least better advertised - to Kickstarter backers of the core game.  Needless to say, eBay prices are not kind and I wasn't very happy to pay them for the sake of completeness.  Anyway...that is the end of my ranting...on to the regular posting.

Eva has been said to be an homage to Katniss Everdeen of The Hunger Games.  There are definitely some photos of the Katniss braid and the character is female so I guess it could be a reasonable assumption.  The character also has some powerful ranged skills that also line up with the archer archetype.

Oddly, I somehow forgot to take any workbench photos...  From memory, I know I used Perylene Black as the primary glaze for any green areas along with Asphaultum for the gold/brown/flesh areas.  The usual Terra Rosa + Brilliant Yellow Pale was used to finish off the flesh and Indian Yellow for the armor sections.

Zombicide Invader - Cloud

This character has some interesting and fairly rare skills.  Rolling 6 and adding a die, while unpredictable, can be fun to have right off the bat.  A choice between Full Auto and Predator allows Cloud to choose a ranged or melee build.  Lucky at Red would round out the unpredictable nature of this character.

Cloud looks to be an homage to Nebula from Guardians of the Galaxy.  This one I'm actually familiar with.  Other than 'neutering' this character, there are a lot of similarities to the cybernetically enhanced daughter of Thanos.

Zombicide Invader - Stomper Abomination

These big figures are fun to paint with oil paints.  It really shows off their ability to achieve smooth transitions.

The Stomper can really cause issues for characters with all of its stomping around.  I've yet to play in a game with the Stomper so it will be interesting to see how much 'impact' it has by costing characters' actions to stand back up.

Zombicide Invader - Doctor Falconer

This model was fun to paint and turned out pretty nice with the blue-steel look of the chair (tank).  I tried adding a little lighting cast on the face from the screens and could have gone further with it, but it generally isn't an effect I enjoy very much.  It was a good opportunity to try out some of the radiant colors which seemed to work well enough.

Dr Falconer is obviously an homage to the late Stephen Hawking.  Gameplay-wise, it is possible to deck him out with a pair of extra machine actions to build on his remote control all at Blue.

Zombicide Invader - Madame Singleton

Although I'm not a big fan of the +1 Free Search action skill, Madame Singleton has later skills that could set her up to be able to be a speedster.  Taunt can be a very helpful skill as well.  Although there isn't a lot of crazy detail that makes her stand out, I do really like how the paint job turned out.  The skin tones, ammo belt, and shirt look pretty neat to me.  She was also super fast to paint (for me) - probably less than an hour in total.

I apparently don't see a lot of movies as this is another homage I'm not familiar with.  Singleton is apparently modeled after Aunty Entity from Mad Max: Beyond the Thunderdome.  I'm not sure I 100% see any distinctive features that would lock that in as the homage, but that is what boardgamegeek.com mentions.

Zombicide Invader - Doctor Stakefrieze

While the face looks a bit rough in the photos, I am very happy with how the yellow coat turned out.  With the oil paints it took all of about 5 minutes to achieve a nice blend with tonal variation.  With full disclosure, the coat was a Happy Accident as the late Bob Ross would put it.  As I dry brushed the Indian Yellow over the wiped Asphaltum pre-glaze, the beautiful transition just appeared with very little effort on my part.

Dr Stakefrieze is a homage to Morpheus from The Matrix.  Too bad we didn't get a Neo and Trinity to go along with him to make a trio.  Perhaps in Invader II. ;)  As one may expect with his homage, Stakefrieze is a Born Leader with quick reflexes and significant combat skills.  Fun looking character to play!

Zombicide Invader - Major Sharp

Major Sharp has several melee-oriented skills as one might imagine given her various physical enhancements.

I'm not familiar with the homage, but apparently is Rita from Edge of Tomorrow.  Seems reasonable given the photos that come up when searching.
